Proper temp for betta fish

  24-28℃

The most suitable water temperature range for betta fish is 24-28℃. However, different species have differences in their adaptability to temperature:

Water Temperature Requirements of Common Species

Chinese Betta Fish: The most suitable temperature is 24-28℃. When the temperature is lower than 20℃, it will lead to a decrease in activity.

Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta splendens): The suitable temperature is 22-24℃, and it should not be lower than 18℃ for a long time.

Roundtail Paradise Fish (Macropodus ocellatus): It can tolerate lower temperatures (the lowest is 6℃), but the best water temperature is 24-27℃.

Paradise Fish (Macropodus opercularis): It is suitable for a temperature range of 20-25℃ and has relatively strong tolerance to low temperatures.

  Influences of Abnormal Temperatures

When the water temperature exceeds 30℃, betta fish will experience problems such as rapid breathing and a decrease in immunity. When the temperature is lower than 20℃, their metabolism slows down, and they may even enter a dormant state.

Although betta fish can survive in a long-term low temperature environment (such as 16℃), it will cause them to be in a sluggish state. Therefore, equipment such as a heating rod should be used to maintain the stability of the water temperature.

  Cultivation Suggestions

Use a constant temperature device (such as a heating rod) to keep the water temperature stable and avoid large temperature differences between day and night.

Change the water regularly (replace 1/3 of the water volume every 5-7 days) and use nitrifying bacteria to maintain the balance of water quality.

Different species of betta fish have slightly different temperature requirements. It is recommended to adjust the cultivation conditions according to the specific species. If mixed cultivation is required, it is necessary to ensure the compatibility of water temperature and pay attention to the rules of mixed cultivation of betta fish to avoid fights.
