15-40 cm Square Fish Tank
The recommended minimum size for a betta fish tank is 15cm × 15cm, and a square tank ranging from 20 to 40cm is more ideal. The specific choice should be based on the betta fish's body size, water quality management, and the requirements of the breeding environment:

Minimum Requirements
For a single common betta fish (with a body length of 3-10cm), it is recommended to use a square tank with a size of 15cm × 15cm or larger. Avoid using small tanks with a side length of less than 10cm. A too-small fish tank will limit the betta fish's movement, cause the water quality to deteriorate rapidly, and increase the risk of the fish jumping out of the tank.
Ideal Size
A square tank measuring 20-40cm can provide ample swimming space, making it easier to stabilize the water quality and carry out water changing operations. For larger betta fish (such as the giant betta), it is recommended to choose an ultra-clear glass tank with a size of 18cm × 15cm × 13cm or larger.
Configuration Recommendations
Filtration System: Although betta fish have a low demand for dissolved oxygen, beginners or those who prefer convenience can install a small-power wall-mounted filter (such as Ancai 250 or Bionaire BHF-0100) to maintain stable water quality.
Heating Rod: Use a 20-25W mini heating rod (such as the YEE temperature-controlled model) to keep the water temperature constant.
Environmental Decoration: It is recommended to add substrate sand, Indian almond leaves, or driftwood to simulate a weakly acidic water environment, and install spotlights to enhance the aesthetic appeal.
Unrecommended Configurations
Building block fish tanks and small round glass tanks (such as 9×10×12cm) are not conducive to the health of betta fish due to their small water volume and tendency to become turbid easily.
If you need to further optimize the breeding environment, you can study the specific configuration methods of ultra-clear glass tanks, wall-mounted filters, or Siamese fighting fish ecological tanks.
