Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta splendens)
- In the wild, their lifespan is about 1 to 2 years. Under artificial feeding conditions, it is usually 2 to 4 years, and the display period (when they are in the best condition) is only about 1 year.
- Male Siamese fighting fish have a slightly longer lifespan. Under ideal conditions, they can live up to 3 to 5 years, while the lifespan of females is generally shorter, usually 2 to 3 years.
Chinese Fighting Fish
- The average lifespan is 2 to 3 years. In a suitable environment, the lifespan of males may be extended to 3 to 5 years.
II. Key Measures to Extend Lifespan
Water Quality and Temperature
- The water quality should be kept as neutral soft water (pH 6.5 - 7.0), and the water temperature should be stable at 24 - 27℃.
- Use Terminalia catappa leaves to adjust the water quality to slightly acidic and avoid changing the water too frequently (the amount of water changed per week should not exceed 1/3).
Feeding Management
