Neon tetra breeding

The breeding process of neon tetras includes the following key steps:

Breeding Environment Requirements: Neon tetras breed in acidic water with a pH value ranging from 5.6 to 6.8, and the water temperature should be maintained at 25 to 26 degrees Celsius. The breeding tank should be placed in an area without direct strong light, and spawning attachments such as palm fibers should be placed inside the tank.

Breeding Time: Neon tetras reach sexual maturity at 6 to 8 months of age. Spring and autumn are the best seasons for artificial breeding. When the parent fish are about 5 centimeters in length, they can be used for breeding.

Breeding Method: At dusk, put neon tetras with a male-female ratio of 1:1 into the breeding tank. Female fish usually lay eggs in the morning. The eggs are small and transparent, and each pair of parent fish can lay about 120 eggs. After laying eggs, the female fish should be taken out immediately to prevent it from eating the fish eggs.

Hatching Details: The fertilized eggs need to be attached to the fish nest for hatching. Usually, the fry will hatch within 24 to 36 hours. The hatched fry will start to swim and eat after 3 days. They grow rapidly and can reach maturity in about 5 months. Moreover, they can breed multiple times a year.

Cultivation Conditions and Environmental Requirements of Neon Tetras:

Water Quality: Neon tetras are suitable to live in soft water with a pH value ranging from 5.5 to 7.0, and the water temperature should be kept at 24 to 26 degrees Celsius. The water quality should be moderately acidic.

Lighting: Direct strong light should be avoided, and the tank should be placed in a relatively dark place, but a little light is required to be ensured.

Feed: Select appropriate artificial fish food to ensure a balanced diet, which helps to make the body color of neon tetras more beautiful.

Through the above steps and conditions, neon tetras can be successfully bred and a good cultivation environment can be maintained.
